European Union to scrutinize Google Books settlement; Congress may hold hearing | Technology | Los Angeles Times

The Google Books settlement has attracted the attention of regulators and lawmakers. The European Union today said it will scrutinize the settlement with authors and publishers and hold a hearing Sept. 7 to determine whether there would be any adverse impact on the European book market. Across the pond, U.S. lawmakers are also expressing an interest in holding a hearing on the topic.
