LRT operating costs far higher than subways. TTC debate has only focused on capital costs. City on hook for greater amount long term.
Pension plans, developers & private corporations have expressed interest in building subways. Give them time to pitch plan for consideration
The TTC Capital cost structure is far higher than other cities. Why is that and why hasn't it been looked at?
LRT in other cities is usually underground or elevated. Why rip up streets and increase gridlock and slow down transit with intersections?
LRT has a life of about 20 years. In Calgary million dollar LRTs being replaced after 6 years due to collisions.
Will the City of Toronto complensate the Sheppard businesses that go under due to LRT construction? St. Clair a disaster for business.
Putting LRT above ground forces TTC to hire unionized employees and pay wages/benefits and pensions. Underground version requires no driver.
Subways and subway stations encourage investment into the city and creates jobs. LRT does not.
Replacing Scarborough RT with Bloor Danforth extension and Sheppard extension would create a loop. Extending to Downsview connects all lines
